Why SunoGuard Exists

Built for Suno creators who want to release safely

This tool was built by a Suno AI music creator to help answer one question: can I safely release this track? It organizes copyright law, distributor policies, Content ID risk, and California AI laws into one place.
🎵
AI music tools like Suno generate tracks in seconds — but the legal questions around copyright, Content ID, and distribution don't answer themselves. This tool helps you ask the right questions before you publish.
The SunoGuard Approach
AI-assisted · Not legal advice
⚖️
California has the strictest privacy and AI laws in the U.S. — CCPA/CPRA, CIPA ($5,000/violation), Unruh Act ($4,000/violation). If your site or distribution complies with California law, you're covered for virtually every other state too.

Mahal (our AI assistant) and the compliance analysis tool can help you understand risks — but always remember: AI can make mistakes. This tool is a starting point, not a finish line. Always consult a real lawyer before major commercial decisions.

A tool built by a Suno creator,
for Suno creators.

SunoGuard is an independent AI-assisted tool built to answer one question: "Is my Suno AI track safe to release commercially?" It analyzes your track details, subscription tier, prompt, and lyrics against copyright law, Suno's Terms of Service, and distributor policies — then gives you a scored risk report with specific recommendations. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

Music production studio

What this tool actually is

SunoGuard is an AI-powered compliance reference tool. It was created to help everyday Suno AI music creators understand the legal considerations around releasing, monetizing, and distributing AI-generated music — without needing a law degree.

The tool uses Claude (Anthropic's AI) to analyze your track details, Suno prompt, and lyrics against known legal frameworks — including U.S. copyright law, distributor policies, and California privacy law. It gives you a structured risk picture so you know what questions to ask and what risks to address before you release.

What it is not: a licensed attorney, a law firm, a guarantee of legal safety, or an official compliance authority. It is an AI assistant that organizes legal information. AI can and does make mistakes. Always consult a qualified entertainment attorney before making commercial distribution decisions.

What the Legal Guide covers

Primary (AI Music Release): The Legal Guide is organized around what matters most to a Suno creator — Suno's Terms of Service, U.S. copyright law and AI music, California's AB 2602 voice/likeness law, Right of Publicity, Content ID risk, distributor AI policies, and mechanical/PRO rights. These directly answer "can I release this track?"

Secondary (Website Laws): Because SunoGuard itself is a website serving California users, the guide also covers CCPA/CPRA, CIPA, CalOPPA, ADA accessibility, and cookie consent requirements — but these are clearly labeled as website operation laws, not song release laws.

California is the focus for website laws because it has the strictest requirements in the U.S. Complying with California law covers the core requirements of virtually every other state's privacy law too.

Research, Not Advice
SunoGuard helps you research and understand legal topics. It organizes complex information into one place so you can have more informed conversations with actual professionals.
Creator Perspective
This tool is built from the perspective of a Suno AI music creator trying to navigate real questions about distribution, copyright, and online compliance — not from a legal authority.
🔄
Always Evolving
The Suno AI legal landscape is one of the most rapidly changing areas of law. We do our best to keep information current, but always verify the latest rules independently before releasing.

NOT Legal Advice
Nothing on SunoGuard — including the compliance analysis, Legal Guide, checklist, Mahal's responses, or any other content — constitutes legal advice. No attorney-client relationship is created. SunoGuard is not a law firm and is not operated by lawyers.
AI Can Make Mistakes
The compliance analysis and Mahal chatbot are powered by AI (Claude by Anthropic). AI models can produce inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete information. Do not rely on AI-generated analysis as your sole basis for any legal or commercial decision.
No Guarantee of Results
Risk scores, verdicts, and distributor approval odds are estimates only. A score of "APPROVED" does not mean your track is legally cleared or that it will be accepted by any distributor. Actual outcomes depend on many factors outside this tool's scope.
Not Affiliated With Suno AI
SunoGuard is an independent tool and has no affiliation with, endorsement from, or connection to Suno AI (Suno Inc.) or any music distributor, record label, or rights organization mentioned in this tool.
Laws Change Constantly
Music copyright law, AI regulations, privacy laws, and distributor policies evolve continuously. Information in this tool reflects our best understanding as of its last update but may be outdated. Always verify current rules from primary sources before acting.
Consult a Real Attorney
Before any commercial release, licensing deal, or monetization of AI-generated music, consult a qualified entertainment attorney or music copyright lawyer. This tool is a research starting point — professional legal counsel is the finish line.
By using SunoGuard, you acknowledge that you have read this disclaimer and understand that results are informational only. You release SunoGuard from any liability arising from decisions made based on information provided by this tool. This tool is provided "as-is" with no warranties of any kind.

1Description of Service

SunoGuard provides AI-assisted compliance analysis tools for creators of AI-generated music. Our reports are informational only. We are not a law firm, we do not provide legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is formed by using this service.

Tokens are consumed when an analysis completes successfully. If an analysis fails due to a technical error on our end, your token will be automatically refunded to your account balance.

5Refund Policy

All token purchases are final unless otherwise required by applicable law. Because our analysis reports are delivered digitally and cannot be "returned," refunds are not offered once an analysis report has been successfully delivered.

Exceptions: If you were charged in error, or if a technical failure on our side prevented delivery of a report, contact us at [email protected] within 24 hours. We will review your request and issue a refund or token credit at our discretion.

Your consumer rights under applicable law (including any state consumer protection law) are not limited by this policy.

6Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to the content you submit (prompts, lyrics, track data). By submitting content to SunoGuard, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to process that content for the purpose of generating your analysis report. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it to train AI models.

The SunoGuard name, logo, website design, and all original text content on this site are our intellectual property and may not be reproduced without permission.

  • Lost profits or revenue from music distribution
  • Copyright infringement claims against you
  • Content ID claims on any platform

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific result will be achieved from using our analysis.

9Arbitration Agreement & Class Action Waiver

PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. It affects your legal rights.

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising from or relating to your use of SunoGuard, these Terms, or our Privacy Policy shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), not in court.

Class Action Waiver: You waive the right to participate in any class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against SunoGuard. Claims may only be brought on an individual basis.

Exception: Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court if eligible. Either party may seek emergency injunctive relief in court to prevent irreparable harm pending arbitration.

Disclaimer

Last Updated: March 2026  ·  Applies to all content on SunoGuard
This disclaimer applies to every analysis, guide, article, and piece of content on this platform.

1Not Legal Advice

SunoGuard provides AI-assisted informational analysis for creators of AI-generated music. We are not a law firm. We are not lawyers. We do not provide legal advice. Nothing on this website, in our reports, in the Mahal chatbot, in the Legal Guide, or in any other content we produce constitutes legal advice or creates an attorney-client relationship.

Specifically, nothing on SunoGuard should be interpreted as:

  • Legal advice of any kind
  • A guarantee of copyright safety or clearance
  • A guarantee of Content ID outcomes on any platform
  • A guarantee of distributor approval or acceptance
  • A guarantee of monetization eligibility
  • A determination of copyright ownership
  • A legal opinion on any matter
  • A representation that any track is legally safe to distribute

2AI Can Make Mistakes

Our compliance analysis and Mahal chatbot are powered by AI (Claude, developed by Anthropic). AI language models can produce inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or contextually wrong information. The legal landscape around AI-generated music is one of the most rapidly evolving areas of law in the United States. Information that was accurate when written may become outdated within weeks.

Do not make commercial decisions based solely on AI-generated analysis. AI is a tool to help you ask better questions — not a substitute for a qualified attorney.

3No Affiliation

SunoGuard is an independent tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to:

  • Suno Inc. (Suno AI)
  • Anthropic (we use their API as a tool, not as a partner)
  • Any music distributor (DistroKid, TuneCore, CD Baby, AWAL, etc.)
  • Any record label or rights organization (RIAA, ASCAP, BMI, etc.)
  • Any law firm or attorney

4Your Responsibility

By using SunoGuard, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You are solely responsible for all creative and business decisions you make
  • You will consult a qualified entertainment attorney before any significant commercial release
  • You will verify all legal information independently from primary sources
  • SunoGuard and its operators are not liable for decisions made based on our analysis
  • Laws change — what applies today may be different tomorrow

5Earnings Disclaimer

If any content on SunoGuard references income potential from AI music (streaming royalties, sync licensing, etc.), those references describe general industry possibilities — not guarantees or typical results. Actual earnings from AI-generated music vary enormously and depend on many factors outside our knowledge or control. We make no representations about how much money you will earn.

6Links to Third-Party Sites

This site may reference or link to third-party websites (Suno, distributors, legal resources). We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices. Linking to a third party does not imply endorsement.

5California CIPA Compliance

The California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) applies to our use of third-party analytics tools. To comply, SunoGuard does not load any third-party scripts until explicit consent is obtained through our cookie consent banner. Your California Privacy Rights

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

California CCPA/CPRA · Last Updated: March 2026
This page is required by California law. Your privacy rights are explained below.
SunoGuard does not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. This page is provided as required by California law (CCPA/CPRA) even though we do not engage in the sale or sharing of personal data.

1Your Right to Opt-Out

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of their personal information. This right applies even if a business does not currently sell data — you may still request it as an additional protection.

2What We Do and Don't Do With Your Data

❌ We Do NOT:
  • Sell personal information to third parties for any purpose
  • Share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
  • Provide personal information to data brokers
  • Allow third-party advertisers to collect data on our site (without consent)
✅ We DO Share With (Service Providers Only):
  • Stripe (payment processing — your payment data, not personal profile)
  • Anthropic API (analysis processing via your own API key — transmitted from your browser)
  • Hosting provider (server logs only — anonymized where possible)
  • Analytics provider (only after consent — anonymized usage data)

3How to Submit an Opt-Out Request

Method 1 — Email: Send an email to [email protected] with subject line "Do Not Sell My Personal Information." Include your name and email address so we can identify your records.

Method 2 — Global Privacy Control: Enable GPC in your browser (Brave browser or Privacy Badger extension). We honor GPC signals automatically as a valid opt-out request.

Method 3 — Cookie Preferences: Decline non-essential cookies through our cookie preference tool. This prevents any analytics data from being transmitted to third parties.

We will respond to opt-out requests within 15 business days as required by CCPA. We will not discriminate against you for exercising this right.

4Other California Privacy Rights

In addition to the right to opt-out, California residents have the right to know, access, delete, correct, and port their personal data. See our full Privacy Policy for complete details, or email [email protected].

Refund Policy

Last Updated: March 2026
Please read our refund policy before purchasing tokens.

1General Policy

All purchases of SunoGuard analysis tokens are final. Because analysis reports are delivered digitally and immediately upon completion, we are generally unable to offer refunds once an analysis has been successfully delivered.

2Automatic Token Refunds (Technical Failures)

If an analysis fails due to a technical error — including API failures, service outages, or errors on our end — your token is automatically refunded to your account balance. You will see the token credited back immediately. You do not need to contact us for automatic refunds.

3Exceptional Refund Requests

We will review refund requests on a case-by-case basis for the following situations:

  • You were charged in error (duplicate charge, wrong amount)
  • A technical failure on our end prevented report delivery and the automatic refund did not trigger
  • You purchased tokens but were unable to use the service due to a verified outage on our end

To request an exceptional refund, email [email protected] within 24 hours of the transaction with your account email and a description of the issue. We will respond within 2 business days.

4Consumer Rights

Nothing in this Refund Policy limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law, including California consumer protection statutes. If you believe you have been charged unfairly, you also have the right to dispute the charge with your payment card issuer.

Our Commitment

Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: March 2026  ·  WCAG 2.1 Level AA Target
SunoGuard is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.

SunoGuard is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III and the California Unruh Civil Rights Act. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards.

1Conformance Status

Our target standard is WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the legal standard referenced by the DOJ in its April 2024 final rule and by California courts applying the Unruh Civil Rights Act.

Current status: We are working toward full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance. Some areas of the site may not yet fully conform. We are actively working to identify and address accessibility barriers.

2Accessibility Features

WCAG CriterionImplementationStatus
Alt text on images (1.1.1)All informational images have descriptive alt text. Decorative images have empty alt="".✅ Implemented
Color contrast 4.5:1 (1.4.3)Text and interactive elements use sufficient contrast ratios based on our design tokens.✅ Implemented
Keyboard navigation (2.1.1)Primary navigation and forms are keyboard accessible. Focus order follows visual layout.⚠️ In Progress
Focus indicators (2.4.7)Visible focus rings on all interactive elements via CSS.⚠️ In Progress

3Known Limitations

We are aware of the following areas that are still being improved:

  • The legal guide sidebar may not be fully keyboard navigable on all browsers — being addressed
  • The article reader overlay may need improved focus trapping for screen reader users — being addressed
  • Some animated elements (floating music notes) may need a "reduce motion" media query — being addressed

4Feedback & Contact

We welcome accessibility feedback. If you encounter any barriers while using SunoGuard, or if you need assistance accessing any content, please contact us:

Email: [email protected] (subject: "Accessibility Feedback")
Response time: We will respond within 48 hours and work to resolve your issue promptly.

We do not use accessibility overlay widgets (such as accessiBe or UserWay). These tools have been rejected by courts as genuine compliance measures and were the subject of a $1 million FTC settlement. We fix accessibility issues in the underlying code.

5Legal Framework

  • ADA Title III — applies to all commercial websites accessible to the public
  • DOJ Final Rule (April 2024) — codifies WCAG 2.1 AA as the standard for government websites; private commercial websites expected to follow the same standard
  • California Unruh Civil Rights Act — $4,000 minimum statutory damages per violation; California leads all states in accessibility lawsuits (3,252 filed in 2025)
